DOLBY THEATRE

Award Winner – Award of Excellence, IFAI International Achievement Awards

We fabricated a sophisticated VIP lobby lounge experience for the Dolby Lounge and the Academy Awards, part of the aesthetical and technical revamp of Hollywood’s famed Dolby Theatre, formerly the Kodak Theater.

One of the Dolby Lounge’s most notable features, the ceiling sound sculpture, consists of more than 40 custom fabric banners, spanning a 28’ wide, 18’ long area. Meeting client expectations, the lounge showcases a dynamic, undulating look with the ceiling sculpture symbolizing sound in 3D. The variety of individual tension fabric banners making up the “sound wave” ranges from 2′ to 21’ wide.

We also mounted custom-printed fabric graphics onto client-supplied framing and manufactured the wall surround sections that envelope the 37-1/2’ long oval-shaped space, as well as two projection liners.

For the wall surround, our proprietary silicone edge graphic system was powdercoated white. The wall surround includes three doorways and two inset counter areas. With its organic sensibility and sublime coolness, the Dolby Lounge perfectly expresses a “sound” experience.
