CASE STUDY: Bio-Techne | BlueHive

Modular exhibit solutions

OUR GOAL:

Bring to life a bold, rear-illuminated coil structure that combines form, light, and scale

Moss worked closely with the BlueHive team to develop their concept into a modular showpiece for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in January 2024. The illuminated coil, a sculptural expression of innovation, required precision engineering to strike a balance between artistry and practicality. A key challenge was translating complex surfacing into a durable tension fabric system that scales effortlessly from 20×30 to 20×50, integrating custom aluminum framing, RGB lighting, and tensioned StretchTex fabric for a flawless glow and clean finish. The result: a striking centerpiece that captures Bio-Techne’s forward-thinking spirit and showcases Moss’s ability to turn ambitious design into a buildable reality.

Key Elements

  • Four compound curve structures form the illuminated coil centerpiece
  • Rear-illuminated StretchTex fabric with liner for a seamless aesthetic
  • RGB color-changing lighting for dynamic visual impact
  • L-shaped hanging sign with pillow-cased round-tube frame and 1″ dimensional PVC letters on a custom backer for depth and contrast.
  • Modular framing system engineered for quick reconfiguration and transport

The finished exhibit showcased Bio-Techne’s innovative spirit with a visually striking, technically advanced centerpiece that encouraged engagement and reinforced its role as a leader in global developer, manufacturer, and supplier of high-quality reagents, analytical instruments, and precision diagnostics.

The modular design ensured long-term flexibility for future events, an elegant blend of artistry, precision, and scalability. Through this collaboration with BlueHive, Moss has once again demonstrated its ability to transform bold, imaginative concepts into reality.
