Grid Shade Structures combine a box truss framework with tensioned fabric sails to create modular overhead coverage for outdoor event environments.
Unlike the radial configuration of a Pinwheel, the grid format creates a more linear, adaptable footprint that can scale across rectangular spaces and integrate naturally with event layouts.

Made from 100% recycled polyester, Sustaina Outdoor StretchTex combines the flexibility needed to tension across grid configurations with durability for repeated outdoor event use. The existing page also specifies UV stability and 12 available colors.

TWO WAYS TO BUILD YOUR GRID
Grid Shade Structures offer two distinct ways to create overhead coverage, depending on the look and dimensions you want to bring to the space.
FLAT TRUSS GRID
Create clean, continuous overhead coverage with fabric sails mounted across a complete truss grid. The flatter profile works especially well when you want the shade structure to feel architectural, streamlined, and integrated with the environment.
Choose Flat when you want: broad coverage, clean sightlines, and a more uniform overhead plane.
GILLED TRUSS GRID
Add dimension overhead with layered, angular fabric sails mounted throughout the truss grid. Varying sail positions create movement, depth, and changing patterns of light and shadow throughout the space.
Choose Gilled when you want: more dimension, visual movement, and an overhead feature that becomes part of the experience.

Grid Shade Structures can range from individual fabric sails to complete large-scale shade systems, so what Moss provides depends on what you’re building.
COMPLETE GRID SHADE STRUCTURES
For a full shade structure, Moss provides the custom fabric sails and purpose-built aircraft cable rigging package and can often support professional installation.
Truss is typically sourced separately. For select projects, Moss can help facilitate truss rental based on project requirements and availability.
INDIVIDUAL FLAT PANEL SAILS
Already have the supporting structure? Individual Flat Grid sails can also be ordered without a complete rigging package. For these projects, Moss provides the custom-made fabric sails with zip cable ties for attachment.
