The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the management of the shipping operations which includes the packaging of outgoing shipments and international shipping processes. The position will be expected to safely manage the day-to-day activities of customer shipping, small package shipping, finished good packaging, and packaging material inventory management for Moss. This role will ensure forklift safety and support other areas of the organization.



• Liaise with transportation carriers and forwarders to ensure timely pick up and delivery of customer orders.

• Collaborate with both hourly and salaried employees, to include working with the sales team, to obtain freight cost quotes for customers.

• Retrieve stored information and/or respond to enquiries (for example delivery schedules or shipment tracking).

• Monitor the effectiveness of Forklift operating procedures, space utilization, and make recommendations for improvements.

• Prioritize and assign tasks to ensure that the shipping team’s resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met in a safe manner.

• Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s quality and safety policies and requirements.

• Support the Director of Production in creating a continuous improvement culture and in developing manufacturing standards, processes, and KPI’s including Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.

• Supervise staff to ensure that all shipping/packaging activities and all equipment are operated in a safe manner.

• Train new and existing employees in the organization’s operating procedures and standards.

• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

• High School diploma required.

• Knowledge of international shipping and related documentation highly preferred.

• Forklift operations skills highly preferred.

• Significant understanding of Shipping/Transportation/Logistics and related documentation, warehouse, invoicing, and receiving.

• General knowledge of production planning and manufacturing systems highly desired.

• Experience leading cross-functional team.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Team-player with aptitude to learn the culture and work within a fast-pace environment with frequently shifting priorities.

• Work alongside team members to support troubleshooting, problem solving, root cause analysis, and related process improvement activities.
