Art Preparation

Moss Technical Services reviews all art files for printability and adjusts the size to allow for finishing details of the fabric.

Art Templates

Art templates are available in the Products section of our web site or you may request an art template from your Project Service Manager.

Art Preparation Guidelines

To help you prepare artwork for your Moss project, we have created the following Art Preparation Guidelines. Adhering to these guidelines ensures that your project will progress smoothly and help us to produce the best quality print for you in the timeline you desire.

Accepted file formats: Adobe Illustrator .eps or .ai; Adobe Photoshop .psd, .tif or .eps files. Submit file in native file format. Using alternate art file formats may result in printing difficulties, undesired results, and additional art preparation charges.

  • Convert all fonts to outlines and/or rasterize any type layers in Photoshop files.
  • 3% of art at the edges should not be critical to allow for sewing and finishing of the fabric.
  • Perimeter borders in the graphic are not recommended. The stretch of fabric makes it difficult to maintain evenly around sign.
  • Proportions of the art should match the desired final size. Include 2 inches of bleed around the perimeter.
  • Do not apply global effects.
  • Do not embed linked files. Maintain all links and provide high resolution .tif or .eps files.
  • Do not flatten transparency and other effects in your files. Transparency effects in vector design programs may experience printing difficulties and undesired results. Transparent colors are affected when underlying colors need to be adjusted. Define colors as percentage of spot color when appropriate to image.
  • When sending Photoshop files, include a layered PSD file.
  • Save all images at the appropriate resolution at final print size. Do not rez-up low resolution files to a higher resolution.
  • Convert files to proper color mode for the Print Method (see chart).

Color Matching

It is important that you provide color-matching information with your art files. Specify Pantone® colors to your Project Service Manager, or send a color copy, proof, or color chip to color match to.

You may also include referenced Pantone colors in your art files. When Pantone equivalent colors are not available, proofs are strongly recommended to review colors. Proofs are available for purchase. Contact your Account Team for details.

Moss is proud to have received a BizBash West Event Style Award for the MTV VMA Awards stage set in the Best Staging and Set Design category.  The set, constructed by Moss, was a massive, swooping, towering design inspired by the sleek midcentury modern architecture of Saarinen and Eames. It stretched 70 feet out into the theater seats, making it feel like the audience was practically onstage.
