Event and facilities branding firm Moss Sports will provide the brand experience décor for the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Nationals Park in Washington D.C., with the Washington Capitals hosting the Chicago Blackhawks Jan. 1, 2015.
As a brand experience partner with the NHL, Moss Sports worked with the league for several of its 2014 events including the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, the NHL Awards, and Stadium Series outdoor games including contests at Yankee Stadium and Soldier Field.
“The Winter Classic is really a showcase celebrated by all of sports. Each sports venue chosen is different and exciting for its ability to connect with fans for a unique and unforgettable experience,” said Dan Patterson, president and CEO of Moss Sports.
“There’s an elemental joy with outdoor hockey and the NHL has been visionary over the years with its outdoor hockey scheduling and bringing in both baseball and football venues. We’re proud to be part of the Winter Classic again.”
Moss Sports has been the brand experience partner for the NHL’s Winter Classic games since the inception of the outdoor event in 2008. Moss Sports’ environmental branding programs for the Winter Classic have included large banner systems, flags, wayfinding, stage signage, rink wall branding, and Spectator Plaza areas, and has extended city-wide from street pole banners to airport and hotel welcome signage.
Last year’s Winter Classic played by the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium featured record NHL attendance on 105,491 tickets sold and was named Event of the Year by Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal/Sports Business Daily. With that same recognition in 2008, the Winter Classic is the only event named twice as Event of the Year.
